January 28 - At Sea
We've gotten into a sort of rhythm for sea days. We try to get to the fitness center first thing. This morning we had the alarm go at 6 am and got right down the hall. We both got our machines so all was good. I was talking with Carol from Portland about the event later where everyone gets together with others from your state or country at a certain lounge. Carol mentioned that there are 15 from Oregon and the woman next to me said "I'm from Oregon also". Turns out she is from Eagle Crest! We have friends in common and she (Andrea) and her husband, Bruce, are moving to Philadelphia to be closer to kids/grandkids when they get home! They, unlike us, will be downsizing to an apartment.
After our workout (I use that term loosely) we shower and head to the Coffee Connection where we work on the daily Mensa quiz and the sudoku and crossword puzzle until breakfast. Then at 10 am is the lecture - today was the story of the navy cruiser the Indianapolis.
The ship will be publishing a directory of World Cruisers tomorrow. Being listed was voluntary, but I think it's a great idea, so we'll be listed.
So far, the wifi has been reliable and fast - perhaps not as fast as at home, but certainly fast enough for us. I'm able to check on the cameras at home which stream the two views of inside and outside, which I wasn't sure I'd be able to do. I fully expect we'll get into areas where the satellites aren't as good, but for now, no complaints.
We had lunch with John and Mary Claire, who we met at the Ritz Carlton gala in San Francisco. Then I went to watch the movie Ford v. Ferrari in the theatre and Michael had another session in the sauna and lolligagged about.
After the Where in the World Get Together, we had dinner at the Sette Mari. It is the Italian restaurant they set up on one side of the buffet. We both had the lamb chops which were wonderful, even though Michael had artichoke hearts on his and I didn't. Tomorrow is our last sea day before Hawaii.
