February 11 - Papeete, Tahiti

This morning was a lagoon and swim tour.  It wasn't much, but the views of Tahiti and across to Moorea from the boat were wonderful.  I think I finally got a picture that shows the gorgeous water.  We swam at a couple of spots in the wonderfully warm water.  As we were leaving, the local police boat came by and had a conversation with the skipper about the number of people on board.  The notice said it was licensed for 30 passengers and 5 crew.  We had 18 and 3, respectively, clearly visible so not sure what all the conversation was about.   Anyway they left after a bit, but did follow us to the next spot and hung around.  Michael says they were  waiting for a payout - 😏 The Intercontinental Hotel Finally got the beautiful blue water and Moorea The gendarme checking the boat This is a turnaround port where some people got off and others got on.  We are so excited that my sister, Jan, and brother-in-law, Tom, joine...

February 10 - Moorea, French Polynesia

We were scheduled for a lagoon visit and snorkel trip this morning, but I was feeling not 100% and didn't really want to be out on a boat for hours so we skipped it.  Later in the morning we took the tender into "town" and walked around.  The island is stunningly beautiful, but there wasn't much to see in the local area so we didn't spend too much time there.  The pictures below don't do it justice. Then we lounged around the very quiet pool and had a light lunch.  This afternoon our new friends, Tim and Maureen Kelley, had a vow renewal ceremony to celebrate their upcoming 50th Anniversary.  It was a sweet ceremony with a beautiful backdrop and we were honored that they included us.  The ship sailed at about 5:00 pm for Papeete which is only about 30 miles away and we were docked by 7:00 pm.  After dinner we walked to a nearby pharmacy to pick up a few things, but didn't really feel like doing any more wandering downtown in the dark.  The shi...
