We were scheduled for a lagoon visit and snorkel trip this morning, but I was feeling not 100% and didn't really want to be out on a boat for hours so we skipped it. Later in the morning we took the tender into "town" and walked around. The island is stunningly beautiful, but there wasn't much to see in the local area so we didn't spend too much time there. The pictures below don't do it justice.
Then we lounged around the very quiet pool and had a light lunch. This afternoon our new friends, Tim and Maureen Kelley, had a vow renewal ceremony to celebrate their upcoming 50th Anniversary. It was a sweet ceremony with a beautiful backdrop and we were honored that they included us.
The ship sailed at about 5:00 pm for Papeete which is only about 30 miles away and we were docked by 7:00 pm. After dinner we walked to a nearby pharmacy to pick up a few things, but didn't really feel like doing any more wandering downtown in the dark. The ship brought on board a local Polynesian dance troupe and they performed many of the island dances. Boy those women (and men!) can swing their hips!
