January 29 - At Sea
This morning at coffee, the Captain stopped to have a chat. We see him a lot wandering around, which is nice. Today's lecture was Part I of the History of Exploring the Pacific, again an entertaining and informative lecture.
We had lunch for the first time up top in the buffet, La Veranda. The weather is warming a bit, but it was still too windy to eat out on the back deck. Lots of people were eating at the buffet set up near the pool - the theme today was Phillipino foods. And for the first time, it looked like loungers in the shade were a bit hard to find.
We're still rocking a bit, though not as much. As we passed the fitness center after lunch, we finally noticed the scale. With the movement of the ship, my weight bounced around in a 10 pound swing. I'd like to take the lower number, but figure I should probably take the middle one. Maybe when we're in port, I'll double check that that's right.
I watched Gemini Man in the theatre. A forgettable film except for the great visual effects that had Will Smith facing off against a clone of himself that was about half his age. It was all done by computers, but that part was very believable. I thought they had found a young actor who looked remarkably like a young Will Smith. You really can't believe what you see any more. Sort of like the deceased Carrie Fisher being in the new Star Wars movie. Michael went to an Italian lesson and the steam room again.
Today I turned in our "mid-cruise" survey. I guess we'll get one on each segment in addition to the end of the cruise survey. Anyway, I mentioned that I wished there was a nightlight in the bathroom. The only plug is for a shaver and since it only works when the bathroom light is on, a nightlight plugged in wouldn't work. When we got back from dinner tonight, there was a nightlight plugged in at the vanity table and 2 battery votive candles in the bathroom. Nice to know that someone actually reads those comment cards.
Tonight we had dinner with Michael and Diana from New Jersey/St. Thomas. We actually discussed politics and still were friends at the end of dinner, which was good. It seems that the 2 Michaels are in alignment and Diana and I are in agreement. I think we'll just agree to disagree and move on.
