February 15 - At Sea
Today is Michael's birthday. Besides the well wishes from the family via text messages, our cabin was decorated and he received a birthday card from Nunzio and Sienna, his Italian teachers.
This morning's lecture was Prime Ministers, Part I. It was very enjoyable but I'm not sure he's going to make it through to present day since he only covered from 1939 to 1957 today and at that, he ran over his allotted 45 minutes.
After lunch, I read for a while near the coffee bar. It's a nice location if you want to put your feet up and you'll always see someone you know coming by for a coffee or on the way to somewhere. I got a picture of a lovely view from there, although I can't really do it justice.
The Captain said we'd be crossing the International Dateline today at about 3:08 pm. I suddently feel older. But the ship won't make any changes until midnight so we'll wake up on Monday, not Sunday, and miss February 16 altogether. But we also put the clocks back an hour tonight, so my poor phone is really going to be all screwed up. It can't update automatically until we land and I can connect it to a cell service.
Trivia was about average with 10/15. We spent a bit of time after visiting with Leona and her husband Steve who has joined us to round out our team to 6. We had a very nice dinner at Prime 7 and they brought a birthday cake and card for Michael.
We've been given a special health form to complete before we arrive in Fiji. And Jan and Tom were told that their flight home from Singapore has been re-routed to go through Japan rather than Hong Kong. We are waiting to see if our side trip to Angkor Wat, Cambodia will be changed or cancelled.
