February 2 - Hilo, Hawaii

We didn't have a tour planned today since we were meeting with our friend (and Best Man at our wedding), Cliff Kapono who lives here.  We met across from the ship and Cliff took us to a few of the pretty areas of this part of the island.  The picture below is taken at Rainbow Falls.  No rainbows to be seen today since it was raining lightly, but beautiful nonetheless.

After spending the morning and lunch with Cliff, we returned to the ship.  Since it was Super Bowl Sunday, the ship showed the game in the theatre and to the cabins.  They had the theatre decorated and even provided a tailgate buffet.  The satellite feed did not include the commercials from the US which was disappointing.  All we had was the same ESPN ads over and over again.  Andy, the cruise director, was prepared with funny "commercials" he had filmed earlier and football trivia during the breaks.  It was a good game and while it seemed the majority were cheering for San Francisco, in the end, it was the Kansas City fans who went away happy.

Dinner was at Compass Rose with Betty and Roger from Michigan.  They have travelled to many of the places we've been to, so it was fun to share stories.  We made it to the show tonight, Blazing Boots, which was a country themed music show.  I thought it was better than the last production show we saw.

Tonight the seas are a bit rough again and it might be that way for a bit.
