February 3 - At Sea

Technology is an amazing thing.  We're having our mail forwarded to Anna so she can review for anything that needs action.  We get the daily email from the USPS showing first class mail coming that day.  Once the forwarding took effect, we don't see the mail being forwarded but there was one piece that apparently missed the forwarding.  It was an invoice from my eye doctor.  I called their office from the middle of the Pacific this morning, using wifi calling, and was able to give them a credit card number to pay the bill.  I am blown away by the things we can do now.  We've also been able to have a couple of video calls with our kids.  Unfortunately, the call to Anna happened while she was driving (Russ was holding the phone) so between them  being in a moving car and us being on a moving ship, it was poor quality, but still - what a wonderful world we live in.

Don't think I mentioned another perk for World Cruisers - we get a printed copy of a newspaper of our choice so we get the Wall Street Journal every morning.

Today's lecture was part two of the history of exploration of the Pacific.  Then a little reading up in the Observation Lounge.  With it's panoramic views, it's easy to spend as much time staring out the window as looking at the book.  The other day there was a pod of dolphins jumping right across the bow of the ship.

This afternoon Michael went to the fitness center (I went first thing this morning) while I went for Huka and Hula lessons.  Oh my goodness - that is enough of a challenge without the ship moving also!

We had a sharing table at Chartreuse tonight and turned out we were seated with Betty and Roger  again.  The show was a comedian who was OK, not the best we've seen, but certainly not the worst either.  The weather today was quite windy and cloudy.  The ship is still moving a fair bit, but I think we're getting used to it.

We also learned that Regent (and Norwegian and Oceania) will not be allowing passengers to board their ships if they've been in China within the last 30 days.  Mmmhhh, this may be getting serious.
