February 6 - At Sea
This is our last day of this big stretch of sea days that is necessary coming out of San Francisco. From here on, it will be more like just one or two in a row in between ports, at least until we get to the crossing of the Atlantic in May! I don't mind sea days - I just need to get over feeling like I should be doing something all the time.
I made it to the fitness center early this morning, luckily since 2 of the 4 treadmills were not working. Michael had a massage at 8:00 am so we went our separate ways until late morning. Then we sat by the pool reading before a very good lunch at the pool grill. Yesterday was a barbecue theme where we shared a table with Reggie and Deena from Houston. They declared the barbecue to be good, so that's saying something. Today it was Spanish day with paella and other Spanish items. That, too, was delicious. They started it off with sangrias they offered around the pool.
After lunch Michael studied his Itallian flash cards before going off to his lesson. Maybe by the time we get to Italy he will have learned enough to order us a meal in a restaurant - LOL. I read for a while by the pool then went to the cabin to watch the movie Midway. Trivia was our usual 10/15 so no points for us. I did make 2 contributions (Take Five by Dave Brubeck and David Niven being on stage for the streaker at the Oscars) so I felt pretty good. Mensa was a poor 3/5.
This evening there was a special lecture by Terry Bishop on the Mutiny on the Bounty for the "top tier" cruisers. Not really sure what that was all about since it was pretty much one of his regular lectures only with a bit of music thrown in. Anyway, it was enjoyable. Then off to Compass Rose for dinner a deux before an after dinner drink at the Horizons Lounge. I fully intended to go to the show, but when we got back to the cabin, I automatically got into my pajamas, so that was the end of the show idea. Ah well, it will come around again I'm sure.
