February 8 - At Sea
The sun is rising earlier so it was no trouble for me to get up at 6:15 and get to the fitness center to get my treadmill. Then the usual coffee and work on the Mensa quiz before breakfast. We had a wine pairing lunch with Tim and Maureen with seven wines and six courses of fabulous food. Fortunately the courses were small, but they were generous with the wine. I only finished 2 of them for fear of getting snockered. The wines they were featuring are of the "premium" class that is available for an extra charge. But we've found the wines that are "free" to be very good. They always have a white and red that they are featuring, but of course you can have anything else that they have if you'd prefer.
We made it to the afternoon lecture, but Michael did nod off a few times. Today was about the nuclear testing in the Pacific. I hadn't realized there were quite so many countries testing here. Then Michael and Tim went to the steam room to sweat out some of the wine and I went to trivia - 11/15 today.
Dinner was with Carol and Phil who have a house in Black Butte about 20 miles from us, though their primary home is in Portland.
I made it to the show tonight and I'm glad I did. Elyse Branch is a wonderful singer who did a tribute to Whitney Houston a few days ago that I'd heard was quite good. I made the effort to stay up tonight for her Motown show. It was really good and had people dancing in their seats. I just wish they'd start the show at 9:00 instead of 9:30.
