March 1 - Sydney, Australia

Day 2 in Sydney.  This is the start of the next segment which was originally Sydney to Singapore.  This is the segment that Jan and Tom elected not to do since the whole cruise is entirely different.

When the alarm went off this morning I opened my eyes to see a ship sailing by right outside our balcony.  A little startling, to say the least.  Turns out it is the Explorer Dream and it had Asian characters on it.  Feeling JUST a bit uncomfortable, we looked it up online.  It is based in Shanghai and Tianjin in summer, but has been down in Australia and New Zealand since last October where it is based in winter.  Whew.

After saying one last goodbye to Jan & Tom, we dawdled around this morning before taking the shuttle over to King's Wharf.  We were on a mission to get Michael some sandals and pick up a few things for me, like small magnetic hooks for my necklaces, mailing envelopes and more index cards for Michael.  His Italian vocabulary flashcards are building up.

It was another lovely day, warm and sunny.  We discovered that the Westin hotel we stayed at in 2018 is no longer a Westin.  It's now owned by a hotel company out of Singapore, the Fullerton Hotels.

Back to King's Wharf where we ate at an outdoor Italian restaurant, Casa, which we thought was Mexican when we sat down because of the decor.  Ah well, it was a decent enough lunch, nothing to write home about.  A little too many carbs.  Then back on the shuttle for "home".

Leona sent me a photo taken at our last dinner together.

We see some new faces around now.  Komang told us at coffee that there should be about 500 passengers on this next segment.  Not sure how many we have lost, but somewhere around 100 I think.  We have received our refund for the cancelled Angkor Wat land tour.

We decided to be lazy tonight and order room service.
